Adhesives - bluestone to wood

I'm installing a  bluestone mantle above a  wood burning fireplace and will be cutting into the wall studs in order to insert an edge of the mantle. (The front of the mantle will be supported with 2 wrought iron rods). What's the best adhesive to adhere the mantle to the studs?  Right now I'm looking at  concrete/masonry Liquid Nails...
