permanent marker stains

    Please Help! I just installed a white Carrara marble backsplash in my bathroom. It was my first time using marble, and the result looked beautiful. However, to my dismay, about 20 hrs. later there are reddish stains in the middle of some of the tiles. Apparently, the black permanent marker I used to mark the backs of the tiles to keep them in order has leached all the way through to the surface, showing the now-reddish numbers in mirror-reverse. Is there any way to remove the stains without dismantling the backsplash?
