I live in central PA and I am installing a 600 sqft patio, using 6x12 unfilled/honed/chiseled edge travetine pavers from Home Depot.

I plan on dry setting on 1" of sand on 4" of crushed stone base in a running bond pattern. The pavers are very consistent dimensionally an appears there would be minimal gaps. I am looking for advice on the following 2 points:
Should polymeric sand or regular be used to fill any gaps between the pavers? It seems the sand would fill the pores in the stone...
Is there a good process to chisel the cut ends of the pavers to produce a uniform look?
Thanks in advance!
