verde mare

I was out shopping for granite to be used  for my kitchen counter tops when
i saw a kitchen display with exactly what color i wanted...when i
inquired..i was told it was hawaian green...when i went to look at other
local stone sellers hawaian green they looked nothing like it.I went back to
the place where i 1st  saw it and was told by another salesman it is verde
mare granite. when i went to other local stone sellers shops i was told
verde mare is MARBLE? Needless to say, im now thinking all stone dealers are
clueless and just want your money, bye telling you what you want to hear.
Now that i ve vented my frustration , can anyone tell me if verde mare is a
good choice for kitchen countertops?
