Removing a section of a granit countertop

I am trying to make room for a larger refrigerator and doing so requires me to get about 6 inches cut off the end of my granite countertop.  I think the easiest way for me to do this is to remove a 25" x 50" corner section and bring it in to have a professional cut it.  I can easily remove the granite from the countertop but the section is glued by some means to another granite section.  How can I remove this epoxy which hold together the two granite sections?
