how to cut tumbled travertine tiles.

Good day,

I seem to be learning a lot, yet getting more confused!  We decided to go with tumbled travertine 4''x4'' tiles for our bathroom floor.  They are beautiful.  We are at the stage where we will soon lay the tile.  We've been told conflicting stories of how to cut this particular tile. we've been told to use a water saw by some, and a regular tile cutter by others.  Your input would be appreciated.  One other question is regarding sealing.  We were told to put three layers of sealing on the tiles.  Two prior to grouting, and one after grouting. but from what I've read on your site, it seems to be not necessary?  We assumed the sealant was for the cement that would push up through the natural 'holes' in the tile.

Thanks kindly

Kim
