I am just about ready to have 18" x 18" honed, filled travertine installed on a floor - over cork (it's in a condominium) and also same tiles to bathroom walls - tub alcove and stall shower. Can you tell me the best method of installing the cork over the concrete and then the travertine over the cork for the best bond? Also, what type of mastic? mud? thinset? would one use on the bathroom walls to install this same travertine material? One contractor insists that the cork goes down with adhesive, then the tile installer needs to put thinset on top of the cork and then mud on top of the thinset. Also, that there is a different product for install ation on a wall. Please help!
